With a passion for teaching and working with children, she attended the University of Nevada, Reno where she graduated with a dual Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. She has taught various age students in elementary and junior high over the past ten years. Edee has continued her education towards administration and has been Principal at Mount Saint Mary’s Academy since 2008.

Teacher Bio: My name is Janelle Quentmeyer and I have lived in Grass Valley for 3 years now. I was raised in Chico, California and attended Chico State University. I gratuated with a BA in Child Development and a minor in Phsycology. I have had the pleasure of working at Mt. St. Mary's for two years now and have loved every minute! Some of my favorite things to do are camping, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with my family. |

Teacher Bio: I grew up in Walnut Creek, the third of nine children. I went to St. Mary's Elementary School and Carondelet High School. I married Ron and worked in San Francisco for Chevron Chemical. We moved to Grass Valley in 1984. All six of our children graduated from Mt. St. Mary's. I have worked as an aide, PE teacher, and Title 1 instructor. I got my degree at National University. I am a certified catechist with the Diocese of Sacramento and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. I love teaching and this school. I feel chosen and blessed to be a part of this faith-filled tradition.

Teacher Bio: Carol Squires Kent received her BA in Liberal Studies from San Jose State University and her Credential from California State University at Long Beach. She taught in New Mexico 13 years before returning to California. Most of her teaching experience has been in First Grade, which she never wants to leave! Married with two daughters, her other interests include music, gardening, and reading, especially the works of Jane Austen.

Teacher Bio: Carol Keane-Stein, our 2nd
grade teacher, is a product of 13 years of Catholic education. She
grew up in Red Bluff and graduated from both Sacred Heart Elementary
School, and Mercy High School. She currently holds a B. A. in Child
Development from California State University, Chico; a California
teaching credential from National University; and a Masters in
Education with Distinction, with an emphasis in Best Practices, from
National University. In addition, she is a certified catechist with
both the Diocese of Sacramento and the Catechesis of the Good
Shepherd. Carol has over 14 years of experience working with children
in various avenues, from preschool teacher, Kindergarten teacher,
school aged childcare director, to mom. She has wanted to be a
teacher since she was 8 years old and loves to garden, sew, read, and
make crafty things! She and Dave have three sons, Rex, Tristin, and
Parker, all of whom are graduates of Mt. St. Mary’s.

Teacher Bio: Mrs. Reynolds is an experienced teacher of 12 years. After growing up in Santa Barbara County, Mrs. Reynolds received her Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Credential from California State University, Long Beach. She began her teaching career in inner-city schools in Los Angeles County. Then, she worked in the Bay Area for eight years in Fremont Unified, teaching 6th grade.
Mrs. Reynolds moved to Nevada County in 2005 with her husband, Matt, and daughter, Madison. She worked in Nevada County schools as a music director and teacher for 2 years, before teaching at Mount Saint Mary Academy. This is Mrs. Reynolds second year at MSM. Mrs. Reynolds enjoys singing in her church choir, playing the flute, snowshoeing, and hiking with her 6 year old daughter. |

Teacher Bio: Sherilyn Doerr has been the 5th
grade teacher at MSM, occupying the front corner room at the top of
the entry since 1983! She’s also spent time with 4th
graders and our junior high students teaching them some of her
favorite grammar tricks. She grew up in Modesto and graduated from
the University of the Pacific in Stockton with a B.A. in Speech
Communication. She holds a California Multiple Subject Credential
and is a certified catechist in the Diocese of Sacramento. She and
her husband Alan have two daughters who both graduated from Mt. St.
Mary’s, having attended from the earliest of their preschool days.
Her interests include scrapbooking, music (the kind you listen to),
football (the kind you watch), quilting, and drag boat racing.

Teacher Bio: Michelle McDaniel graduated from St. Mary’s College in Moraga in 1997 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physics. Michelle has also been a teacher for various science enrichment programs including Science Adventures and Mad Science. She is a native Spanish speaker being born in Panama and growing up in a home where Spanish was the primary language. Michelle is also a certified catechist and worked for two years as the Children’s Faith Formation Coordinator for St. Patrick’s Church. She teaches 4th-8th grade Science, K-8th grade Spanish, and 6th/7th Religion. Her husband, John, is a Physics teacher at Nevada Union High School and coaches Varsity Girls Basketball.

Teacher Bio: This is my first year at Mount Saint Mary’s and I’m enjoying every minute. After graduating from California High School in San Ramon, Ca, I attended Diablo Valley Community College to begin Liberal Study classes. After finding my passion for teaching, I transferred to Cal State East Bay where I received a B.A. in Liberal Studies with an option in Early Childhood Studies. At that time, I also received my multiple subject teaching credential. Before coming to MSM, I taught in the Walnut Creek and Mt. Diablo School Districts. Outside of teaching, I enjoy ice hockey, snowboarding, drumming, and photography.

Teacher Bio: Ryan Ellis, a graduate of Nevada Union, received a B.A. in History from San Diego State University. He taught at his alma mater, Union Hill, where he was also a basketball and football coach. Currently, he teaches 4th-8th grade Math and 6th-8th grade Social Studies here at Mt. St. Mary’s. He is also the basketball coach. When he is not teaching he enjoys playing golf, basketball camping and hiking.

He teaches 3rd-8th grade Physical Education and is the Kindergarten and 3rd grade Teacher Aide. He coaches freshman football at Nevada Union, and volleyball at MSM. Chris is a competitive cyclist who competes at both a state and national level and has added a Mountain Bike Club to MSM this year. He enjoys the outdoors.

Phone Teacher Bio: I joined the staff of Mt. St. Mary's in 1995 when I began teaching music to all grades. This allowed me the opportunity to be near my two youngest children who attended and graduated from MSM. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arizona and a Master of Education with an emphasis in Rehabilitation from the University of Georgia. I taught fourth grade and second grade in a Catholic elementary school in the Midwest prior to moving to California.
In addition to teaching music in the school, I am a pastoral musician at St. Patrick’s Parish. I’ve been providing music for liturgies in several parishes since 1980. I feel that God has led me to this vocation and has blessed this ministry at the school and in the parish.
